There
is nothing more wonderful then when a mother and daughter can forgive
their past, and become good friends. This is a funny but provocative
collection of Mother - Daughter poetry on wrinkles, Zen in a messy
kitchen, big butts, to New Orleans Style funerals in red pointy
boots.
After the death of Moms
husband, a Holocaust survivor, we began pounding on our computer
keys a tirade of poems on womanhood. Little did we know Grandma,
from the "other side," was simultaneously clicking on the
keys of her heavenly Sears & Roebuck typewriter, adding her celestial
essence. Amongst poetry themes of best friends, facial scars, highway
driving and work, are sarcastic gems on mini pads, malls, widowhood
and bunyan removal. Even death brings humor as a scarlet plumed
funeral horse bears mother's body in red pointy boots.
Grandmother carefully coaxed our poems back to function and practicality.
For through all opinions, she felt, a woman's immortality is in
the passing down of dinnerware, be it gourds, clay or china. This
is a gift book all mature women can bond and share in; even those
passed on.
